Singapore Group One Winner for Show a Heart
GLENLOGAN PARK'S Champion Stallion, Show A Heart, added another star performer winner to his impressive stud record on Sunday night when the Michael Freedman trained Super Ninetyseven produced a whirlwind finish to take out the second leg of the Singapore Triple Crown Series, the $500,000 Raffles Cup Sng Gr 1.
Super NinetysevenIn a huge coup for the farm, Glenlogan Park stallions have now supplied both of the winners in the first two legs of this Group One series after the Bradbury's Luck gelding, Cash Luck, was victorious in the Kranji Mile earlier in the month.
However it was Show A Heart's Super Ninetyseven that reigned supreme on Sunday and it was a victory that was very well-deserved.
Settling at the tail of the field after a slow getaway and travelling three wide with cover for the journey, jockey Alan Munro pulled the 4YO to the outside of the pack as the field straightened for home and then gave him his head.
In a few short bounds it was obvious to all that the Show A Heart gelding was going to be right in the finish as he lengthened stride and laid the ears back, rapidly overhauling his rivals.
At the furlong pole he reeled in the leader War Affair and then waltzed away to a easing 1.5 length victory.
The G1 $1.35million Longines Singapore Gold Cup over 2200m on November 17 now beckons for Super Ninetyseven and his trainer is hoping he is not penalised too harshly for his impressive win.
"I just hope the handicapper is kind to him," Freedman said. "From a staying point of view he has the right credentials to win a race like the Gold Cup and it would be a real feather in his cap as he has come a long way in short space of time. He has the talent."
Super Ninetyseven, who has won seven of his 13 career starts, becomes the fourth Group One winner for Show A Heart - joining Heart of Dreams, Toorak Toff and Woorim.
His dam, Yabeel, foaled a colt by Real Saga in early October and is due to visit Show A Heart in the next few days.
