Arrowfield Increases Stake In It's A Dundeel
Arrowfield Stud has secured the controlling interest in multiple G1 winner It's A Dundeel after increasing its stake in the four-year-old to more than 50 percent.
The NZ owners of the Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained stallion sold 30 per cent to Arrowfield during the Melbourne spring carnival.
The deal contained an option for Arrowfield to increase its stake in It’s A Dundeel and the stud has now exercised that option.
The stud will now control the racing program of It’s A Dundeel with the entire to race in Arrowfield colours.
Baker and Forsman will continue to train the five-time G1 winner with his autumn goal being the $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick in April.
It’ A Dundeel finished second in the G1 Queen Elizabeth this year in his last race as a three-year-old after he became the first horse to win the modern day version of the Sydney Triple Crown since the Randwick Guineas replaced the Canterbury Guineas as the first leg.
He also became the first horse to win a clean sweep of the four major G1 three year old races run in Sydney (Spring Champion Stakes, Randwick Guineas, Rosehill Guineas, ATC Derby).
It's A Dundeel has not raced since starting favourite and finishing eighth in the WS Cox Plate at Moonee Valley at the end of a light spring carnival that was interrupted by minor hiccups but included his memorable last stride victory over Atlantic Jewel in the G1 Underwood Stakes.
