2015 Australian Horse of the Year results - Dissident wins two categories
Four wins at the highest level last season clinched Australian Horse Of The Year honours for Dissident.
Dissident polled 119 votes, clear of dual Group I winner Brazen Beau (58) and Contributer (31), in the award decided by a national group of handicappers and racing media with points awarded on a 3-2-1 basis.
Trained by Peter Moody, Dissident was also named champion sprinter for his wins up to and including 1400 metres, namely the Memsie, C F Orr and All Aged Stakes as well as the Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Group I level.
Brazen Beau was also runner-up in the sprint category but was named champion three-year-old colt or gelding well in front of Hallowed Crown, both colts now at stud along with Dissident.
West Australian-trained Delicacy was named champion three-year-old filly following victories in West Australia Oaks and Derby and the Australasian Oaks and South Australian Derby.
Group I wins in the Ranvet and Chipping Norton Stakes saw Contributer win the middle distance category ahead of Cox Plate winner Adelaide.
Golden Slipper winner Vancouver was voted champion two-year-old over Blue Diamond Stakes and ATC Sire's Produce winner Pride Of Dubai.
Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist was a clear winner of champion stayer over the Caulfield Cup winner Admire Rakti while Bashboy was voted the champion jumper for the third time in the last four years.
