Runaway Success
The leading sire by average at the record breaking 2016 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale is not only a sale ring winner, but a runaway racetrack success.
Victorian based stallion WRITTEN TYCOON sired a treble at Caulfield including the impressive Listed winner in the Pat Carey trained Shakespearean Lass in the WJ Adam Stakes. The 4 year old mare took her record to an impressive 5 wins from only 13 starts for prizemoney earnings of $264,000.
She became the 13th stakes winner for her sire.
Mark Riley’s handsome 4 year old Grand Rosso is finally realising the potential he showed as a young horse.
Riley has always had a high opinion of him as evidenced by running him in the Blue Diamond preview at his first start in a race where he finished a close fourth. It will be no surprise to see the now gelded 4 year old add to his record in the coming months.
WRITTEN TYCOON’s day finished on a dream note when his 5 year daughter Written landed some good bets to win the last race on the card, The Thomas North Handicap. A great money spinner for trainer Mick Kent and owner Geoff Grimish, Written has now won 6 races and over $310,000 in prizemoney and will be given her chance at a stakes race next start.
Meanwhile at Morphettville, Boys Getaround Him gave WRITTEN TYCOON his fourth city winner for the day. The Stephen Theodore trained 5 year old notched up career win number 6.
A nose was the difference in Sydney when Press Report was pipped at the post by Group 1 winner Amicus in the Group 2 ATC Breeders Classic at Randwick. It seems only a matter of time before Press Report joins the growing list of stakes winners for her sire.
The Woodside Park son of Iglesia has shown great versatility as a stallion.
He can sire a boom 2 year old like undefeated Capitalist, tough geldings that train on like Howmuchdoyouloveme, brilliant 3 year old Rich Enuff and handy mares that improve with maturity as evidenced by Tycoon Tara, Shakespearean Lass & Vibrant Rouge.
WRITTEN TYCOON is currently sitting equal second on the Australian General Sires List by winners.
He is equal with Fastnet Rock both on 81 individual winners & in front of Snitzel, Choisir, Lonhro, Redoute’s Choice, Exceed and Excel and Sebring and surpassed only by Not A Single Doubt.
WRITTEN TYCOON is also sitting in 6th position on the Australian leading sire list by earnings.
The results on the track are now giving his loyal supporters healthy rewards in the sale ring. At the 2016 Inglis Classic Sale, WRITTEN TYCOON has achieved the highest sales average of any sire and recorded a new highest sales price when Lot 381 a colt out of the Zabeel mare Zals sold to the China Horse Club for $305,000.

We have great respect for Written Tycoon,”said Michael Wallace, Bloodstock Manager of the China Horse Club. "He will be trained by Peter and Paul Snowden and will race in partnership with Winstar Farm, USA”.
WRITTEN TYCOON is without doubt that he is one of the hottest stallions in the country right now and the fact that he is being recognized internationally as a sire of stallion prospects proves that to no end.
